PRETTY IN PINK!! And Tribute to BIG RED..

Pretty in Pink
So my "Pretty in Pink" bike is almost ready for me to pick her up from Providence Bicycle.  She is so pretty and looks so fast...I know I know it will be what i put into her to make her move fast...But I am sure I will be able to go a little faster on this bike then BIG RED...

Sean
And since I did take a nasty fall last year, Sean recommended I get a new helmet!!!!(Yup we are blaming Sean on the new helmet and shoes, that is  Sean  in the picture above...IN FACT the whole new TRI bike purchase can be blamed on Sean !!!!!)

Required Bike Accessories!
Do not get me wrong I love BIG RED...Actually BIG RED just got home from the "Bike Hospital" tonight...AGAIN THANKS to the guys and gals at Providence Bike , she is feeling better and riding smoother...She needed some new tires and a chain and rear cassette...been putting off her repairs cause she was on the trainer for the winter...
BIG RED
But now BIG RED is back home where she belongs... Sean said to me tonight, while I was contemplating putting her inside the Jeep or on the bike rack, "Just throw her on the rack she is your beater bike now!!"

It took a minute to realize what he meant by that and it felt kinda sad...BIG RED took me through my first two TRI seasons and had a couple of nasty falls on her..but I learned so much during the last two years....I have met some great people who taught me to race a bike and not just ride it....I learned confidence to ride "clipped" in.  Learned balance and determination...learned that "Dog Shit" is a good mantra, for me, when I am trying to push and pedal up a hill....Learned that the "first" fall/crash does happen..and when it does you get up and brush off and get RIGHT BACK ON....

CAUSE I CAN NOW....AND YOU CAN TOO!!!

NEW BIKE and NEW INK! :-)

Howdy!!!  Yesterday I was at Providence Bike Shop putting my deposit on my new TRI BIKE....

I had a fitting over the weekend.  Which was really cool.  You sit on a special bike that is adjustable in all ways..and you ride.  As you ride there are sensors on your body and it is recorded.  As you tell the person what feels right and  they try different levels of the seat and peddles and aero bars..etc...

I am very nervous because this is A LOT of money!!!!  Especially for EL CHEAPO!!!! Queen of the Deal!!! How much can I take off that price???? But it is really a nice bike!!!  And the color is one of my favorites!!!   Can we say just a little PINK!!!!!  Gonna have to find Pink bar tape though!!!!

The CD0.1 Ultegra uses QR’s exclusive 18 millimeter offset downtube SHIFT that diverts concentrated airflow away from the drive side to produce a true measurable bike-course advantage for every athlete at every level.

Features include:
  • Premium modulus carbon fiber construction
  • Ultegra components
  • ISM Adamo saddle
  • Shimano R500 Wheels
  • Vision Trimax Alloy TT crankset
  • New rear brake design improves braking performance plus increased clearance for the latest generation of wider race wheels
  • BB30 bottom bracket technology
  • Reynolds Strike Wheelset upgrade available <-----GOT THESE!!!!!

CONTROLS Headset: FSA Orbit IS; Handlebar: Profile OZero; Aero bars: Profile T3; Stem: Profile Aris; Saddle: ISM Adamo; Seat Post: Carbon Aero

WHEELSET Wheelset 700c: Shimano R500; Wheelset 650c: N/A; Tires: Continental Ultra Sport

As you can tell I cut and pasted that from the website...now I know what about half of that means... I know I am in for a big learning curve....  The bike should be here next WEDNESDAY!!!!!!!  YEAH!!!!!!

Hubby called me today with a proposal...First thing I was thinking is uhmmmm what kind of trouble am I in NOW!!!  Then he goes "your getting a new tri bike...and my bday is less then 2 weeks away"...and I say "Yeah and???"....He says, "I think you should buy me a NEW TATTOO for my bday."..."Ok, I get a new toy and you get new INK..." I can live with that!!! (Who wants to bet I get new ink too?????)

29:17 and sticking to my story! : WEIGHT : Results

Question for my racing friends... The race official time says 29:26 for 3.1 but my watch say 29:17 for 3.17 miles...I know it is "only" 9 seconds and my PR is a 28:50...But it is my second fastest time...and first time I ever ran that route..the race results only reported a "time" not a chip or gun time.  So would you still go by the watch or the official race time????

WEIGHT!!!!!   I have been fighting to lose the weight I regained from last September 2011 till January 2012..I have been working very hard...losing one pound gaining back 0.5, losing 2 then gain back ..going back and forth....Driving me NUTS!!!!  Yes I had weight loss surgery but it is not a CURE...NOPE just a tool....So over the fall and winter, I was not working out as much as I was eating like i was still working out and having several Adult beverages...lots of empty calories....and Yesterday, I stepped on the scale and I am losing weight again and getting back to where I want to be....It sure is not as easy as when I lost the weight right after I had surgery...Still fighting the BATTLE AGAINST OBESITY EVERYDAY!!!!

Results and Totals Since Jan 29, 2012 to today!

95 days 23 hours till 70.3 miles of FUN plus saved over $81 at grocery store!

Good Morning World:  How are you all doing today?  Those of us in New England had a great weekend, weather wise.  I hope you got to enjoy it!!

Saturday, As I noted in my last blog. I ran the St pats 5k in Providence and rode the bike for an hour and 15...Sunday was the Celtic 5K in Worchester, MA. Meet Maryann and she drove us into the city of Worchester...THANK YOU MARYANN!!!   Cause as many of you know, I can get loss in my own house!!!!  even with a GPS!

Gotta love the fact that I am up out of bed and finished the rest of  my house work for the weekend, drove 45 miles to go run a 3 mile race and was on my way home before 1215 in afternoon!!!!

Oh and finished that race in 30:19...after a sub 30 the day before and the bike ride....

On the way home I stopped at Providence Bike (the one on Branch Ave) and talked to Sean.  I am seriously looking into a TRI BIKE!!!  I am going to be going to Sean new fit shop hopefully this week or this weekend and get"fitted" for a bike...After that we will know what is the best frame for me. And go from there.

After I got home I realized because I had worked to 9 and 10 pm on Wednesday and Thursday, I still had not made up my swim work out...the YMCA near my house has a 315 lap swim...so guess where I went,,,Yup! the pool, did my swim work out I did not push really hard but did about 1125 yards in a decent time for me.

One of the chores I hate to do by myself, is grocery shop...Cause i really like to look for deals and use coupons...but with the hubby's schedule lately, not much of a choice.  Plus Dave is the cook here not me, So i am always getting the wrong stuff at the store,  But yesterday after the swim , I went to BJ's and got everything he put on the list, plus a few other things ( had some really good coupons!)  The original bill was $414.50 and I saved $81.15 in coupons and earned $5.00 on my reward card!!!!

So last week I listed my total from my Garmin...Here is the update: as of yesterday, March 11th...I hope to be able to get the Garmin foot pod soon , so I can start to track my run cadence!!!

LOVE THE ST PAT RACES!!!!

Today was the second in a series of three races over 8 days!   St's Pat 5k, in Providence RI...

This is the forth  time I have completed this race!     2012 29:58...2011 30:49...2010 30:38...2009 29:57

Right about on track... Felt great and even came home to do a little ride on the bike and trainer....Can not wait to be able to ride outside again.  But in 1:15:05 I rode about 17.09 miles...with a 10 minute warm up and a 55 minute moderate ride with a 10 min cool down...

Tomorrow is the Celtic 5K in Worcester, MA...Last year i did it really fast for me  BUT I think the course was a wean bit short last year,,,last year is was 29:03...I did not have a Garmin at the time so we will see what we get after tomorrows race...
I am till trying to decided if I want to swim in the AM before heading up to the race...I need to get about a 1000 yards in pool...
SO GO DO IT!!!!!
