142 DAYS & A WAKE UP TO GO

HOWDYYYYY...  OK so I am not a good blogger,   I have not made an entry since Nov 30th 2011...

The Holidays were busy and crazy, lots of traveling and parties... not alot of training...Exercise yes but NO real training..

But guess what all changes the second week of Janurary!!!!!!

This last saturday was my first HIM training session with my USAT coach.   Tara Comer is my coach.  I am doing a small group training, there are four women, all traiing for the Patirots 70.3 Triathlon...142 days and a wakeup to go...
Session number one...a swim !!!!!!  Tara watched as we did a few laps and and started to give us direction and advice on to strengthen and correct our forms and habits in the water.

I feel pretty comfortable in the water, most of the time, espically in the pool.. But Tara noted that I am holding my shoulders really tight and high to my ears  I also need to learn to press with my chest when swimming to lower my upper body and lift my lower body and decrease the drag.  The other big thing to work on is the bilateral breathing.....

The training schedule is in the base building phase.  This phase is a light mix of running, swimming and biking to work on form and learning new habits and correcting bad habits.

At work, BUSY as always...planning the 2012 Rhode Island Obesity Symposium, a state wide symposium on the diease of obesity.  I have been working like crazy on this project since December...Today we received our first offical registration..4 months before the event!!!!  Now if I could just hear about the grants we applied for.....

OH YEAH!!! Great news...Last year I was running with one of our local running groups and one of the runner went down having a heart attack...Another runner there is a doctor, we did CPR on teh gentleman till rescue got there and took him to the hospital.  Well last month  THAT MAN attended a CPR class that we held and he is running again.  I got the greatest gift from the children of the gentleman...it is a coffee cup that they personalized and said thank you to me on.....It brought me to tears to be given such a wonderous gift!!!!
